Privacy Policy
Red Barn Collaborative LLC (“Red Barn,” “we,” “us”) operates the Red Barn Collaborative platform at redbarncollaborative.com connecting local farms with customers for direct-to-consumer pickup orders. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Account information: name, email address, password (hashed), and role (customer, farmer, or admin) when you create an account.
- Contact information: phone number when you opt in to SMS notifications from a farm you follow.
- Order and storefront content: products you list (if you are a farmer), orders you place (if you are a customer), messages you exchange with farmers or customers, and pickup coordination notes.
- Payment information: we use Stripe to process farmer subscriptions. Stripe receives and stores your payment card data; Red Barn does not store full card numbers.
- Technical information: standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) for operating the site and diagnosing problems.
How we use information
- To operate the platform — show storefronts, take orders, deliver harvest alerts.
- To send transactional notifications you have requested (order updates, alerts).
- To process payments via Stripe for farmer subscriptions.
- To respond to support requests and improve the service.
SMS messaging
When you opt in to SMS harvest alerts from a farm, you consent to receive recurring text messages from Red Barn on behalf of that farm. Message frequency varies by farm. Message and data rates may apply. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message, and you can get help by replying HELP. See our SMS Terms for details.
Phone numbers collected for SMS opt-in are used only to send alerts you have requested. Red Barn does not sell, rent, or share opt-in phone numbers with third parties for marketing purposes.
Who we share information with
- Farmers: when you place an order or message a farm, that farm sees your name, email, and the contents of the order/message.
- Service providers: Supabase (database + auth hosting), Vercel (application hosting), SendGrid (email delivery), Twilio (SMS delivery), Stripe (payments), and Mapbox (map geocoding). Each receives only the data needed to perform its function.
- Legal compliance: we may disclose information when required by law, subpoena, or court order.
We do not sell personal information.
Your choices
- Email notifications: toggle on or off from your follow modal on each farm storefront.
- SMS notifications: toggle off from the same modal, or reply STOP to any text message.
- Account deletion: contact redbarncollaborative@gmail.com to delete your account and associated data.
Data retention
Account, order, and message data is retained while your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your profile and unfollow you from all farms; certain order records may be retained for tax and dispute-resolution purposes.
Security
Passwords are stored hashed via Supabase Auth. Database access uses row-level security policies. Payment data is handled by Stripe, which is PCI DSS compliant. No internet service is perfectly secure; we work to protect your data but cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
Red Barn Collaborative is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Updated versions will be posted here with a new “Last updated” date.
